51°µÍř’s Office of the Provost has announced the appointment of Rikki Butler as the university’s new Director of Student Engagement. The position will oversee the Office of Engagement, consisting of the Student Government Association, the Student Programming Board, student clubs and organizations, and signature events like Weekend of Welcome and Homecoming, among others. As the Director, she will develop and maintain initiatives that provide support for new and returning students in their experience at SSU by providing a welcoming and engaging environment for all students.  Â
“We are excited to have Rikki join our team,” said SSU Interim Dean of Students Jeff Hamilton. “She brings a wealth of experience along with a very good understanding of our student population. I’m looking forward to working with her to enrich the student experiences at SSU and add excitement to our campus.”
Butler brings extensive experience of leadership in higher education to the role, previously serving as the Director of Undergraduate & Graduate Admissions, Assistant Vice President of Enrollment Management, and most recently as Interim Vice President for Enrollment & Student Life at Glenville State University.Â
Butler earned her Bachelor of Science in Behavioral & Social Science from Glenville State University in 2013 before continuing to complete her Master of Science in Adult & Continuing Education from Marshall University in 2023.
